The Beginning

So, since I'm not working I've had a lot of time on my hands. The other day, while my better half was at work, I grabbed a screwdriver and tore apart one of my old, broken PS3 controllers. I poked around in the guts for a bit, just seeing what was what. Curiosity satisfied, I remember some old cans of spray paint I had laying around, so I figured I'd paint it.

A few hours later it was a pretty cool flat black color (I ended up using some grill paint). At this point I figured I could put it back together and find something else to tear apart, or keep messing around. Looking around, I realized that that wasn't anything else I'd feel comfortable putting back together again (or risk irreparably destroying). And then I had a thought, "You know what would look cool? Camo!".

This is the point where I should have realized that I'm no painter. I printed off a stencil online and spent the next hour and a half cutting out the little squares in painters tape; this was going to be my paint mask. Seemed pretty simple, paint one color, apply tape, paint again and done.

Well, the stupid tape got un-sticky after handling it so much so it didn't want to stick. I painted the second coat anyway. Disaster. So I just ended up sanding and painting it all tan. Looks dumb. I'll keep at it though.
